Established in 2016, Whisky Den was modeled after a hybrid of the tiny 'yokocho' alley bars of Japan and the Hutong bars of Beijing. We've scaled up (our capacity is 40, rather than 3-5), but retained that cozy feel. Our layout includes a large booth in the back and a couch-strewn mezzanine level, but the best seats in the house are at the bar. There you can chat with the staff about everything from the distillation process to the effects of climate on maturation.
Our bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about whisky, and we're always happy to recommend a dram tailored to your taste and budget. Our ever-expanding list currently boasts around 380 expressions, so there's sure to be something for everyone.
Please note: due to our small size, we don't accept bookings or bucks/hens groups. Our trade is walk-in only. If you have any enquiries please email us for more info at whiskyden@yahoo.com, or use the contact form below. We'll usually get back to you the same day.
We're open from 12 noon, seven days a week. Come in during the daytime when it's quiet for an even more personalised experience!
We aim to highlight Australian and Japanese expressions, but our huge range includes drams from Scotland to North America and everywhere in between. We carry single malts and blends, bourbons, ryes and other grain whiskies, and even some un-aged spirit. Ask your bartender for any new arrivals and off-menu items!
We know that not everyone drinks whisky, so we stock a range of red, white, and sparkling wines, lager, ales, and dark beers, alcoholic ginger beer, pear and apple cider, and basic, premium-brand spirits.
We serve classic, whisky-based cocktails - our Old Fashioned is particularly popular.
"There's a genuine desire here to get you drinking something you can afford that you've never tried before."
"Whisky Den is small, there's no getting around it [...] but that intimacy actually fosters conversation."
"Staff are extremely knowledgeable and there's a complete lack of pretension."
We're located just up from the Forum Theatre, between Culture Kings and Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen.
